Let’s Map It!

We invite everyone to join us in our efforts to find and sign the large amounts of waste in the natural areas (such as beaches, forest areas, mountain areas, rivers, lakes and any other polluted natural areas in Cyprus), outside the cities.

We meet Saturday 30 June and Sunday 01 July at 9:00am make the plan and off we go!

Nicosia – in the D’ Avilla Moat parking place

What do you have to do?
Just take your GPS, photo machine or mobile phone, sit it in your car, drive somewhere outside your city, in any natural area and look for waste piles.
When you found it please map it – take a photo of the waste, write down the coordinates or simply use the Geo Tagging function of your camera (if you have it) and than upload it on our website.

If you don’t have a car and you want to join us, do not worry…just show up at the meeting point and you can ride with one of us!

Let’s Do It Cyprus is a part of Let’s Do It World! project implemented in 94 countries all over the world.
It is the largest environmental protection and social involvement project in the world and it is the first time that takes place in Cyprus.

Καλούμε ΟΛΟΥΣ να βοηθήσουν στην χαρτογράφηση όσο το δυνατών περισσότερων χώρων με σκουπίδια, σε όλη την Κύπρο! Ψάχνουμε σε χώρους όπως: παραλίες, δάση, βουνά, ποτάμια, λίμνες και άλλες φυσικές περιοχές.

Συνάντηση: Σάββατο, 30 Ιουνίου και
Κυριακή, 1 Ιουλίου στις 9:00 π.μ.

Τι κάνουμε:
Απλά παίρνουμε τα GPS μας, τις φωτογραφικές μηχανές ή και τα κινητά μας τηλέφωνα, μπαίνουμε στο αυτοκίνητο και οδηγούμε προς τα έξω από τις πόλεις μας, όπου ψάχνουμε για σωρούς με σκουπίδια, μικρούς και μεγάλους! Είναι πολύ εύκολο να εντοπίσουμε τα σκουπίδια εφόσον στην Κύπρο δυστυχώς, υπάρχουν πεταμένα πάρα πολλα!! Αφού βρούμε τα σκουπίδια, φωτογραφίζουμε την περιοχή, καταγράφουμε συντεταγμένες ή το τοποθετούμε στο χάρτη χρησιμοποιώντας το Geo Tagging ή αλλα πολλά applications ποθ έχουν τα κινητά μας και ακολούθως το ανεβάζουμε στην ιστοσελίδα!

WHEN IS THE NATIONAL CLEANING DAY IN CYPRUS?
The big day is September 29, 2012. This year, more than 94 countries around the world will organize a day of housecleaning, from March 24 to September 29.

WHAT IS LET’S DO IT CYPRUS LOOKING FOR?

We are looking to develop the three levels of management for the proper development of the project:

• National level – National Let’s Do It Cyprus team will have all the responsibility for implementing the project in the whole country, supervising and supporting all the teams and structures within the project in Cyprus;
• Regional Level – Regional Let’s Do It Cyprus team will have the responsibility for implementing the project at regional level, by organizing the activity in different provinces i.e. Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Pafos, Famagusta, etc. cooperating constantly with the national team;
•  Local level – Local Let’s Do It Cyprus team will coordinate the activity in their area (small city, village, selected area, etc.) cooperating constantly with the regional team in their area.

WHAT DO I NEED IN ORDER TOT JOIN THE TEAM?

Each person should be responsible for one task (or two at the most) in order to deliver concrete and valid results to support the common project.

The teams will require individuals with competences and expertise in specific domains of activity, especially at the national and the regional level. Local level teams can consist of smaller groups or individuals without the requirement of having all the following expertise.

I DON’T WANT TO JOIN THE TEAM, HOW CAN I SUPPORT?
By involving in the projects organization at regional or local level

By informing the organization members about the actions of the project, in order to participate as volunteers to:

• the mapping process (1 June – 15 August)
• the National Cleanup Day (September 29)

By helping the regional or local organizational teams
By promoting the project: posting a banner on the site, on-site display of posters, spreading the news, participating in our events etc.
By spreading our message among partner companies and organizations that you collaborate with.

HOW CAN I JOIN THE TEAM?

Send us an email or call us. We will try to set up a meeting, introduce you to Let’s Do It Cyprus, and show you more about the project’s idea and about our work!
